Chickory is a quiet, gentle soul who has come a long way from the fearful little cat she once was. When she first arrived at the shelter, she would “slither” in fear, crouching low to make herself as small as possible. It was clear she hadn’t known what it felt like to be a valued member of a home.

 

Since then, Chickory has been in foster care, learning what it means to feel safe. Although still shy, she has started to come out of her shell. She enjoys curling up in her bed out in the open and no longer runs when approached—she even nuzzles in and accepts gentle pets. While she doesn’t seek out attention, she is grateful when it comes her way.

 

Chickory would thrive in a calm, quiet home without loud dogs or young children. She’s never shown an ounce of aggression and even when hiding, she is gentle and allows herself to be picked up. This sweet girl has a tender heart and a quiet bravery that will blossom in the right environment.
