Fostering

Are you interested in becoming a foster parent/family for our furry friends? You can download the foster form here. Foster pets benefit greatly from the individual attention and learn to thrive in a caring, loving family environment.

Volunteer

Are you interested in donating some of your spare time? Looking to add some exercise to your daily routine? 

What does volunteering entail?

  • Between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m to Noon on Saturdays, volunteers can walk the dogs.

If you are interested in volunteering, please click here to download our volunteer form. The form can be brought in to the shelter, faxed or emailed. Your first time volunteering at the shelter, you will be given a tour before you begin working with the animals. You must be at least 16 years of age in order to volunteer at the shelter on your own. If you are under the age of 16 you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. 

Volunteers Needed For: 

  • Coordinator to help with Volunteers
  • Walking Dogs
  • Enrichment for Cats
  • Cleaning: Kennels, Cages, Mopping, Vacuuming, Windows, Folding Towels
  • Typing up Forms
  • Help Developing Flyers
  • Distributing Flyers
  • Advice for Social media and Website
  • Help cleaning up wooded area, clearing sticks and setting up walking paths

Do you have community service hours for housing, school, etc.? You can complete them at the Shawano County Humane Society, Monday through Friday between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., and Sundays from 9 a.m. to noon. You must first complete the form which is linked above. When you bring your form to the shelter, you will have to set up a schedule with our Animal Care Director, Traci Hutchcraft or our Director, Pam Nowak.

How can I help?

  1. Donating funds. This can be done through a simple donation, in honor of a friend or pet, or as a memorial, just to name a few options. We will send a card to thank the person the donation was made in honor of, just bring the address in with you when making the donation. Donations can be mailed to our street address or by clicking on the donate button at the top of the screen which connects to our Square app. You can also click here to connect to our online donation.

  2.  Donating items from our wish list, which can be seen or downloaded by clicking here.
  3. Become a Member of the Shawano County Humane Society. Membership forms can be brought in to shelter or mailed to 1290 Jaycee Court, Shawano, WI 54166. When you become a member of the Shawano County Humane Society, you will receive a quarterly newsletter. You can download the Membership form by clicking here. You can also pay your membership online by clicking here, just make sure to note in the comments that it for membership.
  4. By donating items to be raffled at our Annual Fundraising Banquet. If you would like to donate an item or funds from your business, please contact the shelter and we will arrange for a Banquet Committee Member to pick up the item.
  5. By saving up your empty aluminum beverage cans. There is a collection area at the end of the building. Bags of cans can be placed inside the wooden fenced area.
  6. By choosing us as your charity at the Kwik Trip station. If you make your purchases with a Kwik Trip card, you can choose for a portion of your purchase prices to be donated to the Shawano County Humane Society.
  7. Donating items from our Amazon Wishlist. The link is at the top of the page.
  8. By choosing the Shawano County Humane Society for your “Choice Dollars” if you are a Thrivent member.

    Donations made to the Shawano County Humane Society can be used as a tax deduction. When you bring your items to the shelter, we can write a receipt for you to use when tax season comes.
